The United States must reassess their relationship with NATO, says Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio has questioned the transatlantic link with NATO, asserting that the United States must “re-examine” their relations with the military Atlantic alliance once the war against Iran is over. The United States have criticized NATO member countries like France, Spain, and Italy for not allowing the flyover of their territories or using American bases to transport military equipment to Israel in the context of the war against Iran.

Donald Trump also stated that the United States might not assist NATO in case of need during a business forum in Miami. He criticized NATO, calling it a “one-way street” and questioning the purpose of the alliance. The tensions between the United States and NATO have escalated since President Trump’s return to power, with the US accusing Europeans of being complacent about their security and Europeans expressing concern about potential US disengagement.
