And yet, after an initial opportunity for the visitors…
And yet, after an initial opportunity for the visitors scored by Thomas Luga (1st), it was Cestas who would open the scoring early in the game through Jessy Lerouge who surged down his side and unleashed an unstoppable shot that found the back of the Geois goal (1-0, 6th). Cestas didn’t have time to savor as a few minutes later, Lège-Cap-Ferret would equalize with a header by Evan Vonner from a perfectly taken corner kick (1-1, 10th).
The match started at a fast pace with the ball moving from one side to the other and chances multiplying. Jessy Lerouge, in great form at the start of the match, intercepted the ball and sent a beautiful shot just wide of the goal guarded by Esteban Veies (14th). Lège-Cap-Ferret would take the lead with a shot straight down the middle by Matthieu Eppert (1-2, 21st). An advantage that the Geois wouldn’t relinquish.
“Really below par”
Lège-Cap-Ferret’s goal scorer Noah Marchesseau added to the tally by calmly converting a penalty after a foul in the box (1-3, 30th) before the Geois soared further on the scoreboard with a goal by Alaeddin Miloudi who received an assist from Noah Marchesseau (1-4, 33rd).
With a three-goal lead at halftime, Lège had undoubtedly done the hard work against a struggling Cestas defensively. However, the ordeal was not over for Cestas as they conceded a fifth goal scored by Sullivan Martinet who capitalized on a perfect cross from his teammate, Alaeddine Miloudi (1-5, 62nd). The writing was on the wall for Cestas who suffered heavily in this derby.
SAGC’s coach, Vincent Bourhis, analyzed at the end of the match: “We were really below par in all aspects of the game and Lège’s dominance was validated by the 5 goals. The better team won.”
