AF Biars Bretenoux achieved a good performance on Saturday evening by sharing points with the L’Union Saint-Jean team, considered favorites for promotion to N3 by Biars coach Patrick Gauthier.

Against a strong team from Haute-Garonne, who had only suffered one defeat in eighteen matches, the Lot team (who had already managed to draw 0-0 in the first leg) drew 2-2, almost pulling off a bigger upset. The visitors equalized in the 95th minute after being behind twice in the game.

For this cup-like encounter, the coach of AFBB had instructed his players to raise their game, and they did. Well-organized from the start, the Biars team did not allow any real chances against the dominating L’Union Saint-Jean team.

Moreover, just before half-time, the Lot team earned a penalty after a foul by the visiting goalkeeper on Fabio Castelli. Keylian Teixeira converted the penalty, giving his team a 1-0 lead at the break.

After the break, L’Union Saint-Jean FC pushed forward to equalize. Twenty minutes before the end, they were awarded a penalty, but the visitor’s shot was saved by Lot goalkeeper Nathan Bouges. However, on the ensuing corner, the Haut-Garonnais leveled the score. Back on equal terms, the visitors continued to push for the lead, but once again, AF Biars Bretenoux took the lead in the 86th minute with a goal from Edgard Lacombe.

Trailing for the second time in the match, L’Union Saint-Jean attacked the Lot goal to equalize, and in the 95th minute, from a corner cleared by the Biars defense, the visitor managed to score, bringing both teams level.
