This Saturday evening, French ice dancers Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, current Olympic champions, claimed the world champion title.

The collection is officially complete. This Saturday evening, in Prague, Czech Republic, the French duo Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron were crowned world champions in ice dancing. This victory comes just a month after their Olympic title in Milan, Italy, and a little over two months after their European title. It’s worth noting that the duo has only been together for a year…

This Saturday, the French pair were the clear favorites for the final victory, following their dominant performance in the rhythm dance on Friday (92.74 pts). In the free dance, the French duo, who were the last to perform, maintained their lead and scored a total of 138.07 points, after delivering another magnificent performance based on the theme of the movie “The Whale.” The audience and judges were once again impressed. This score of 138.07 points puts them close to the world record.

Gilles and Poirier kept at bay

This results in a final score of 230.81 points, higher than their Olympic title. This was enough to surpass, by a margin of nearly 20 points, the Canadian duo of Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier (211.52 points) and the American pair of Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik (209.2 points). It’s worth mentioning that at these world championships, the American duo of Madison Chock and Evan Bates opted out. Another French pair was present in the final.

Ranked fifth after the rhythm dance, Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud dropped to sixth place after the free dance, concluding the world championships in sixth place. Now, it’s time to look ahead. For Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, who presented the program that led them to victory at the Olympics for the last time, the future plans are yet to be revealed.
