It is constantly repeated: golf is good for your health! Like any other sport, the little white ball has, among its many virtues, the ability to promote the health of those who practice it. The government recognized this by passing the Sport Health on Prescription Act at the end of 2016, which elevated physical activity to the status of non-drug therapy (TNM), similar to a spa treatment for example. For the past ten years, adapted physical activity (APA) can be prescribed by doctors to prevent or alleviate chronic conditions classified as long-term illnesses (ALD), as well as other health conditions or significant risk factors.

The development of “prescription sports” is far from insignificant, as due to various amendments, more than 20 million French people are potentially affected by the program today. “This has led to the growth of a whole new sector over the past ten years, including the creation of new professions, such as those certified with a degree in Adapted Physical Activity and Health,” explains Dr. Yves Hervouet des Forges, a doctor at the French Golf Federation. “In clinics and hospitals, there are now these “APAS”, as they are called, whose role is to apply the APA “treatment.”
