It’s a page that turns in Liverpool. Forward Mohamed Salah announced on his social networks this Tuesday that this season would be his last with the Reds, having arrived in England in 2017.

With Liverpool, Salah has scored 255 goals and provided 122 assists in 435 matches, making him the third highest scorer in the club’s history. He has also won two Premier League titles (2020 and 2025) and a Champions League (2019), leaving an indelible mark on Merseyside. “The striker has reached an agreement with the Reds to conclude a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield,” wrote the reigning English champion. “Salah has expressed his wish to make this announcement to the fans as soon as possible to ensure transparency regarding his future, out of respect and gratitude towards them.”

Frost on the line with Slot during the winter

In April 2025, the “Pharaoh” had extended his commitment with Liverpool FC until 2027 according to the sports press, a logical reward after sparkling months. He was voted the best player of the 2024-2025 season in the Premier League. But his aura has declined this season, along with his playing time, due to disappointing individual performances.

Last December, he had criticized a situation as “unacceptable, unfair” after a third consecutive starting match on the substitutes’ bench. “I feel like the club has thrown me to the wolves,” the winger told journalists. “I am not the problem, I have done so much for this club. I should not have to fight every day for my position, because I have earned it,” he added. This fiery outburst led to him being excluded from the group for one match. His relationship with coach Arne Slot has since normalized, but his future remained unclear. “The time to fully celebrate his legacy and achievements will come later in the year, when he bids farewell to Anfield,” the club wrote.
