The football history on the Thau basin will certainly remember the date of March 12th. It has officially announced the union of three major clubs for the creation of a common women’s football project.
This strong initiative, supported by SC Sète, Asfac, and Stade Balarucois, aims to structure and sustainably develop women’s football practice in the Thau basin. It is a first in the territory that offers more ambitious prospects to young players, in their sports journey, especially with better adapted coaching. It is a challenge that is necessary, as mass football has often led to a deficit in quality and created inequalities.
Several categories, from U11 to U18
The goal of this partnership is to allow a better sports experience through the pooling of sports, human, and material resources of the three partner clubs. Starting from the next season, several teams will be involved, from U11 to U18, with the aim of welcoming more female members each year and gradually structuring a strong female pathway in the Thau basin.
Growing women’s football and giving it a new regional vision was a major goal for Bénédicte Sablos. This is what Cathy Durand, Bastien Imbert Crouzet, and Kevin Mourgues, the presidents of the clubs united in this partnership, have committed to. It is worth noting that this cooperation project was carried out with the Occitanie League and the Hérault District.
