Despite a wake-up call last week against Montfermeil (2-1), OL’s U19 team is struggling in 2026 and suffered again on Sunday in Strasbourg. In a match between the 3rd and 4th placed teams where Florent Balmont’s boys created many opportunities, it was ultimately Racing who showed more strength and efficiency, scoring two goals towards the end to win 2-0.

As the runner-up in Group B, FC Metz won on Sunday in Saint-Priest, leaving Lyon now five points behind the potentially qualifying second place. With four more matchdays to go, OL may now focus on the Gambardella Cup, with a quarter-final at home against Rennes on April 5th.

Held to a draw on Saturday by bottom side Besançon (1-1), shortly after being defeated by 12th placed Illzach Modenheim, the U17s are also struggling. Samy Saci and Mour Paye’s boys are still on top after the 22nd matchday. However, Sochaux and Troyes, their next opponent on April 12th at home, are pushing hard to snatch one of the two qualifying spots.
