In the race to maintain their position in Regional 3, Fleurantins has secured a valuable victory (4-0) against FC Pyrenees Vallees des Gaves on Saturday, March 7th. The three points are a huge morale boost for the Gers troops.
It’s finally happened! After several months of drought, Fleurantins have finally tasted victory and moved away from the bottom of the rankings. Following last Saturday’s setback, it was time for rebellion, and the Lomagnols had the right ingredients to overturn the Pyrenees.
After a few minutes of observation, Labat made the first charge with a shot that grazed the post (7th minute). Aoustin responded for the visitors by penetrating the local defense, but the latter managed to clear (10th minute). The breakthrough finally came for Fleurantins, as Tahri victoriously converted a center from Labat’s excellent work on the right (16th minute).
And just before the break, the break was imminent: Pouches’ powerful free-kick was denied by Cabar, but Lafargue followed up well and saw his shot slightly deflected by the same Cabar to hit the crossbar!
Back-to-back goals for Tahri
Upon returning from the break, the visitors were more proactive, and Aoustin’s powerful free-kick forced Lechner to make a fine save with two fists (48th minute). Gradually, Claverie’s teammates took control of the game and, with another run from Labat on the right, Tahri was once again present to receive, control, and score a winning goal (2-0, 64th minute).
From there, the Pyrenees players somewhat struggled, especially as Lechner remained effective until the last minute with some authoritative interventions. The home team’s offensive festival continued, first with Lafargue’s acrobatic shot, surprising the unlucky Cabar (67th minute); then with a spicy cross in front of the goal from Labat, who forced Duchateau to score an own goal (87th minute).
At 4-0, the outcome was clear, and the excellent referee Mr. Thorignac could send all the players to the dressing rooms. Even though the situation remains challenging for the Gersois, they could celebrate their coach Gastal’s fortieth birthday with dignity; while for the Bigourdan team, it was simply not a good evening.
