“Once we’re in the bar, we see sports! Gwenn Douguet doesn’t hide his enthusiasm. With 17 screens, including a giant 15m² screen, the new Bar des Sports in Locmaria promises an unprecedented immersion in Quimper. The offer is gargantuan: from MMA, darts, football, to nordic combined, the establishment is subscribed to all channels available in France, leaving no fan on the sidelines. For this project, the owner of Finnegans and Poitin Still has teamed up with two well-known associates from Quimper, Ludovic Volant (Le Prieuré) and Thomas Fossier (formerly Poitin Still). Together, they traveled throughout France to find the best concepts. ‘We didn’t invent anything, but bringing it all together in one place in Quimper, that didn’t exist,’ says Gwenn Douguet, who, with his partners, has matured with this project for many months.

Image Oled, its cinema: we move into an experience similar to being at the stadium.

A grandstand like at the stadium

The establishment with 200 seating places is divided into three zones. The main space welcomes guests for lunch or snacks. Further on, the “winter sports” ambiance features a vintage lounge and dart games. But the centerpiece remains “The Tribune”. These stands can accommodate 40 supporters facing an XXL screen of 5 meters by 3. ‘Image Oled, its cinema; we move into an experience close to the stadium,’ assures Gwenn Douguet. Sixteen other screens, including two 360° towers, complete the setup. Every blind spot has been eliminated to ensure total visibility. The principle is simple: image everywhere, but no cacophony. The sound is reserved for major events; the rest of the time, there is a musical atmosphere. ‘These screens can broadcast different sports competitions. Want to see nordic combined? We can put it on demand.’

The sports bar is back in vogue. Those who don’t like sports are also welcome.

Cozy, trendy, and “home-made”

If sports rule, the floral decoration, leather sofas, and vegetal ceiling target a broad clientele. ‘The sports bar is back in vogue. Those who don’t like sports are also welcome,’ emphasizes the owner. On the food side, the place offers a brasserie formula at lunchtime (dishes between 12 and 15 euros).

For the rest of the day, it’s all about autonomy. You order your tapas and drinks via a QR Code or directly to the open kitchen. A pager alerts you as soon as the mini-burgers, accras, or samosas – all “home-made” – are ready. To accompany it all, eleven draft beers, including local Britt and Coreff, as well as Belgian beers, await the customers. The opening is imminent for this team of eleven employees, ready to keep up the pace 7 days a week.
