On Wednesday, March 4th, the Indian women’s team made their debut in the Asian Cup. But before the match, they experienced a strange situation regarding their uniforms.

Did their 2-1 defeat in the opening match on Wednesday, March 4th, get influenced by the incidents the Indian team faced before entering the Asian Cup? Beaten by Vietnam, the players almost didn’t play after an unexpected mistake by their federation.

Indeed, a few days ago, while the team was preparing for the start of the Asian Cup in Australia, they were surprised to find out that the match jerseys sent by their federation were actually too small. They were sized for children.

Purchased Jerseys on Site

A situation that may seem humorous but was very badly received by the players involved who wrote a letter to their representatives. They explained in the letter that this mistake caused a delay in taking the official photo, as well as in checking the equipment.

Furthermore, it impacted the players’ morale. It was stated in the letter that “representing India at the international level requires professional standards, including appropriate training and match kits.” They also mentioned that “the arrival of incorrect kits at this crucial stage disrupted our focus.”

To address this, the Indian federation members present in Australia purchased equipment in Perth by ordering new kits from the supplier Macron, who had stocks in Australia.

These were budget-friendly kits, costing just $24 each. The Indian Football Federation managed to personalize with names, numbers, and the team badge before the match against Vietnam. So, they played in a new sky blue jersey on Thursday. Their next match will be on Saturday against the formidable Japanese team, which could jeopardize the Indian’s dream of qualifying for the next World Cup, which would be a first.
