The Caen public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Thursday that a coach from a local club in Caen has been taken into custody for rape and invasion of privacy involving several underage players.
The coach of a local football club in Caen was placed in custody on Wednesday for rape and invasion of privacy of several underage players, the Caen public prosecutor’s office told AFP on Thursday. “The charges involve three victims aged 13 to 17 at the time of the incidents,” AFP quoted Joël Garrigue, public prosecutor of Caen, confirming a report from Ouest-France.
The club allegedly fired him in June 2025.
The teenagers were part of the Maladrerie Omni Sports club on the outskirts of Caen. AFP was unable to immediately reach the club. The coach, now 30 years old, was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday, as stated by Mr. Garrigue. According to Ouest-France, he is accused of sexually abusing young girls and secretly watching some of them while naked in the changing rooms.
The club reportedly dismissed him in June 2025 after being alerted by the players, and then implemented awareness measures, as reported by local media. The man had since found a position in a club in Gard, the prosecutor added.
