After PSG’s victory over Toulouse at the Parc des Princes this Friday (3-1), Lucas Hernandez and the Parisians are now focused on the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool. The French defender assures that everyone is ready to fight.
PSG wanted to calmly prepare for their upcoming challenge by taking a four-point lead over their closest pursuer? Mission accomplished. The Parisians did not falter to secure a win against Toulouse (3-1) this Friday, in the opening match of the 28th round of Ligue 1, despite the late returns of many international players who competed for their national teams. This puts pressure on Lens, who will face Lille on Saturday in a tense Northern derby.
After the match, Lucas Hernandez set the tone: focus is now on the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool, next Wednesday at the Parc des Princes. No misplaced confidence, but a feeling of being well-prepared.
“We knew it wouldn’t be an easy match after the break. We have players who returned yesterday. But we are all confident, looking forward to the (Liverpool) match. We are ready,” assures Lucas Hernandez on Ligue 1+. “Everyone is involved, ready and everyone is responding. It’s important for the future, we will need everyone to try to achieve what we want.”
“The coach knows,” adds the defender.
Hernandez seems to have regained his form after a few challenging months. His playing time is increasing and he is coming off a very convincing performance with the French national team against Colombia in a friendly match in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
“I stay focused in training giving my all. If you don’t play, you can be frustrated, you can show up to training angry, not wanting to be there. But that’s not the right path to follow,” insists Lucas Hernandez. “You have to show the coach that you give 100% in training and you are ready to start any match. The coach knows. See you on Wednesday.”
