Antoine Kombouaré on the verge of fulfilling his mission at Paris FC

Since taking over Paris FC, Antoine Kombouaré has remained undefeated and looks set to keep the team in Ligue 1 unless a catastrophe strikes. Now, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, Kombouaré discussed his future on RMC’s After Foot show this Wednesday.

With two wins against Nice and Le Havre, and two draws against Lyon and Strasbourg, Kombouaré’s arrival in February to lead Paris FC after replacing Stéphane Gilli has been successful so far. His main goal was to provide some breathing room for the ambitious newly promoted team, which currently sits comfortably in 13th place with a nine-point lead over the relegation zone. With their safety almost secured, is it possible that the Kanak coach will stay beyond this season?

“Tout est possible”

During a special appearance on RMC’s After Foot show this Wednesday, Kombouaré addressed the topic, responding to those who see him more as a firefighter than someone capable of leading a project as ambitious as the one undertaken by Paris FC, supported by the Arnault family and Red Bull.

“To know, they have to give me the possibility and the opportunity to do it. If tomorrow they give me a team… My contract ends at the end of the season. After that, they can decide to continue or stop. But I can also decide to continue or stop. I don’t know yet, but everything is possible,” said the 62-year-old coach.

“I’m doing my job. If I’m still here next season, we want to step up and aim for at least a European spot. That’s the goal. But it’s not about words, it’s about actions,” he emphasized. So while not looking too far ahead, Kombouaré still managed to convey a few messages.
