Clément Herrero, a senior French champion from Agen, now aims to win world gold after a journey marked by great determination.
On March 15th, at the Teddy Riner dojo in Lormont, Clément Herrero (25 years old) achieved a significant milestone by becoming the senior French champion in jiu-jitsu, across all belts, in the -62 kg category.
Since 2025, the French Judo Federation has held the delegation for jiu-jitsu, making Clément Herrero one of the first French champions in history. “I am the best Frenchman in my weight category, and that is a huge satisfaction. It is the result of many years of intense training, starting with judo at the age of 7 or 8,” the proud Agenais native stated.
Training regularly at the Insep (National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance) due to his high-level athlete status, Clément Herrero is preparing for the upcoming Paris tournament, viewed as the equivalent of the Grand Slam of Paris in judo. Success in this event could secure his place in the French team for the upcoming World Championship in Rome.
Apart from the Insep, Clément Herrero has honed his skills in Japan to master the subtleties and techniques of his martial art. With his career overseen by master Yosuke Takagame, Herrero has embraced the Japanese culture and training environment.
At the recent French championships, Herrero’s partner, Emma Duprat, also won a bronze medal. A family affair, Clément’s younger brother Anton is also a fighter, with both brothers reaching the finals of the League championship. Clément’s next goal is to secure sponsors to support his training and competition needs.
The remarkable career of Clément Herrero, characterized by extraordinary determination, will be closely watched, with the hope that companies will align themselves with this athlete who embodies true ethical and sporting values.
