It’s an arrest that has caused a stir. On Wednesday, March 25th, at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, Gims was arrested by agents of the National Judicial Customs Service (SNDJ). They wanted to speak with the rapper upon his arrival from the plane about a case of organized money laundering. This Friday, after 48 hours in custody, the star was placed under judicial control along with two of his associates: one serving as a “butler” for the rapper and the other as a “secretary who takes care of everything,” detailed Le Parisien in an article published on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Gims under judicial control: what are the investigators’ suspicions?
The 39-year-old rapper is suspected of being linked to a criminal organization that, between 2019 and 2025, allegedly funded multiple national and international operations amounting to 319 million euros. 9 other people are mentioned in this case, which revolves around a luxury real estate project in Marrakech: the Sunset Village Private Residences, an ultra-luxurious complex of 118 villas with artificial lagoons. A large-scale project that the rapper – who has been living in Marrakech for ten years – has been promoting since 2025.
The National Anti-Organized Crime Prosecution Office (PNACO) is questioning this project, suspected of being used as a front to launder funds of dubious origin. Meanwhile, as reported by our Parisien colleagues, Gims denies the charges against him. “Gims entrusted his money to people who made transfers. But with his 250 concert dates in 2025, he didn’t have time to worry about these stories,” indicated a source close to the case.
Gims placed under judicial control: the rapper still free to move around
For now, Gims has been released and has no restrictions on his movements due to his international activities. However, he must inform the investigating magistrate of his every move, as specified by Purepeople. This weekend, he is expected in Abidjan (Ivory Coast). While he can continue to perform concerts worldwide, Gims must “pay a security deposit” fixed at 1.5 million euros by September, as journalist Laurent Valgigui indicated. He must also stay away from certain individuals designated by the investigating judges. For now, Gims remains presumed innocent of the charges brought against him in this case.
