Harry Potter Fans Disappointed with New Series Soundtrack
Fans are skeptical about the soundtrack for the new series.
A first teaser of the new “Harry Potter” series was finally released a few days ago. Obviously, the criticisms are already pouring in. Here is what bothers the fans about the work.

Fifteen years have passed since the famous film saga Harry Potter took its bow, propelling Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson to stardom. In this context, the announcement of a new adaptation of the famous sorcerer’s adventures in the form of a series came as a monumental surprise to the public.
The future HBO production, like the films before it, is based on J.K. Rowling’s books. Each book will now be adapted into its own season. HBO recently presented the first teaser and the launch date is also known.

A New Look
It was during an HBO Max launch event in the UK and Ireland that the first teaser of the series Harry Potter was finally unveiled. HBO officially announced that this first season, consisting of eight episodes, will be titled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, remaining faithful to the first volume of J.K. Rowling’s saga.
The series will be launched on HBO in November 2026. The teaser already presents the main characters: Harry Potter (Dominic McLaughlin), Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton), Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout), Albus Dumbledore (John Lithgow), Severus Snape (Paapa Essiedu) and Minerva McGonagall (Janet McTeer). Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is also included, while Harry must face a dangerous enemy.
Immediately after the teaser was revealed, reactions flooded social media, with the musical accompaniment at the heart of all debates. It is star composer and Oscar winner Hans Zimmer who has the heavy task of scoring the soundtrack for this new Harry Potter series.
The New Music is Not Well Received
Prior to this, HBO had announced that Zimmer would be supported by musicians from Bleeding Fingers Music, the composers’ collective he co-founded. The mission is to bring the magic of the Harry Potter world closer to the public.
It is precisely on this point that the first critical voices rise. In a post on Reddit, someone wrote: “I can live with the reboot, the new cast, and probably all the alternate interpretations. But I have a bad feeling that everything will sound wrong without John Williams’ music.”
John Williams had previously composed the music for the first three Harry Potter films. His most famous work, “Hedwig’s Theme,” became known worldwide. It is precisely this part that fans feel is sorely lacking.
Another user even said: “The music in this trailer was so bad that I couldn’t focus on anything else.”
Furthermore, some point out that the “Harry Potter vibe” is completely ignored.
On YouTube, comments under the video include: “It can never be better than the original.” Another person adds: “The potential is there, let’s hope they stick more strictly to the books this time. As a series, it should be entirely possible.”
