Britney Spears is going through another tough time. According to TMZ, on Friday, March 27, 2026, the 44-year-old singer, who has sold all of her music catalog, is said to have had issues with a former bodyguard. The bodyguard, Thomas Bunburry, is accused of hacking her personal data.
Reportedly, Britney Spears’ lawyer sent a formal notice to the bodyguard in February 2026, accusing him of accessing her electronic devices and Apple iCloud account without permission or consent. TMZ stated that the former employee breached their confidentiality agreement by communicating with the press and fans, leading to his dismissal in August 2025.
In a letter dated February 2026, Britney Spears’ lawyer claimed that the bodyguard had broken several laws, demanding him to steer clear of her devices and personal accounts, delete any copies he had made, and notify immediately if he had shared any photos, files, or documents about her.
The alleged hacking took place after the bodyguard was fired, resulting in inconvenient situations for Britney Spears, such as being locked out of her accounts multiple times. Thomas Bunburry is reportedly facing legal action if he fails to comply with his former employer’s demands.
Recently, Britney Spears spent a night in custody following an arrest on March 3 for drunk driving. After being released from her conservatorship in 2021, she was reportedly arrested around 9:30 pm and then detained until 6 am the next morning.
Although she has not publicly addressed the incident, her representative told Mirror, “It is an unfortunate and completely inexcusable incident. Britney will take necessary steps and follow the law. Hopefully, this can be the first step towards long-awaited change in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this tough time.”
Her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, born from her marriage to Kevin Federline, have always been important to her. Her representative mentioned that the boys will spend time with her, and a long-awaited plan will be put in place to help her find happiness again. This challenging period for the singer echoes back to her darkest days in the media spotlight twenty years ago.
