At the end of the day on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, firefighters and police discovered Loana’s lifeless body in her apartment near Nice train station. She was only 48 years old. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of death, according to the public prosecutor of Nice, Damien Martinelli. A neighbor, who had not heard from her for several days, alerted the authorities.

Initial findings on site confirmed that her death occurred several days earlier. She had a wound at the back of her skull and bruises on her lower back, suggesting that the death may be related to a fall. At this stage of the investigation, there is no evidence of third-party involvement. Her dog Titi was also found dead at the scene.

A mother marked forever

Behind the star, there was a wounded mother. When she entered the Loft in 2001, Loana was already a mother to a young daughter, Mindy, whom she did not have custody of. This information was kept secret until Paris Match published a photo of her holding her baby, sold by her own mother to the magazine. Loana later admitted feeling betrayed, before ultimately understanding her mother’s actions.

In a moving interview with Sam Zirah a year before her death, Loana had rediscovered herself in front of the camera. She was overwhelmed with emotion, stating, “I cry as soon as I see it. It’s the most beautiful photo of my life. It’s THE photo of my life. Even more than my Titi and my mother. It’s me and my daughter.” Her following words resonate differently today, like a premonition: “I want to be buried with this photo. I protect her against everything.” These words hold a special significance today.

A relationship that could never be rebuilt

Despite the evident maternal love, the connection with Mindy was never fully restored. On November 16, 2024, during an appearance on Face à Hanouna, Loana revealed with a hint of sadness, “The problem with my daughter: we are very different. She doesn’t like the fact that I am part of the celebrity world. She is very much a homebody.”

Reunions did occur, but the magic did not reappear: “We met a lot, several times! She looks nothing like me.” With a tinge of pain in her voice, she added, “She says, ‘For now, I prefer to focus on my family life…’ It’s true, she doesn’t know me.” 25 years after shaking up French television, Loana bids farewell. She leaves behind a generation that loved her and the photo of her and Mindy that she wanted to take with her forever. Perhaps, in death, she finally holds her daughter in her arms forever.
