The latest episode of Léna Situations’ podcast “Couch” was released on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. In this episode, the French influencer hands the mic over to the singer-songwriter and performer from Quebec, Charlotte Cardin. The artist seizes the opportunity to address an important topic: the body shaming she faces on a daily basis.

“I’ve been told my whole life that I was anorexic”

Charlotte Cardin doesn’t hesitate to denounce the numerous criticisms she constantly receives about her body to this day. These criticisms are not new, as they have followed her since childhood.

Speaking to Léna Situations, she confesses: “I’ve been told my whole life that I was anorexic. My whole life, I’ve been put in this box… I was 8/9 years old and I was the tallest and thinnest in my class. But it’s my morphology. My father is like that, my grandfather is like that…”

Despite the mockery and constant opinions about her own body, the artist behind the hit single with over 115 million streams, “Feel Good,” remains sure of herself: “On the inside, I know who I am and that’s a constant. It may seem trivial, but it’s not, it’s actually the most important thing.”

“I’ve really experienced humiliations”: Charlotte Cardin reflects on her experience in the fashion industry

During this female-to-female conversation about the sexist remarks and humiliations she has endured, Charlotte Cardin also opens up about a very specific part of her professional life: her career in the fashion industry.

In an industry rife with cases of sexist and sexual violence, fat-shaming, racism, human trafficking scandals and pedocriminality, the singer has faced numerous abuses: “It was truly an experience that, to a certain level, was violent.” She testifies: “I really suffered humiliations about my body, my appearance… I found it to be a tough industry. I was a minor and was asked to strip, I was looked up and down and told everything wrong with my body.”

Critiques about her physique are particularly perplexing as they are the opposite of what she had always faced. For this industry, the singer was not thin enough: “I wasn’t thin enough and tall enough for that world at the time, even though for the rest of my life, I had been somewhat insulted for these reasons.”

Since then, the artist has completely left this environment, stating: “It’s a period of my life that I didn’t enjoy at all. It’s a toxic world, which I much prefer less than the music world. I never had grand ambitions in modeling.”

Faced with incessant remarks about women’s bodies, regardless of their appearance, and patriarchal humiliations, Charlotte Cardin and Léna Situation agree on one thing: “We can never win.” In fact, Léna Mahfouf has also been a victim of numerous criticisms, including fat-shaming.
