On Instagram, singer Stromae posted a cover of Kenshi Yonezu’s song “Spinning Globe,” from the soundtrack of “The Cat Returns.”
“It’s been a few months that I’ve been learning this song and I wanted to share it with you.” On Instagram, in a video posted this Monday, March 23, singer Stromae unveils his cover, in Japanese, of the song Spinning Globe, by artist Kenshi Yonezu.
A piece taken from the soundtrack of the animated film “The Cat Returns” from Studio Ghibli, directed by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 2003. From a studio and in front of his microphone, Stromae performs the piece in his own way, with his recognizable style.
This is sure to delight his 2.2 million followers on this social network, where he hadn’t posted anything since last November. Fans are doubly thrilled to see the artist back in the studio, three years after interrupting his “Multitude” tour.
Rare Appearances
After about thirty dates in 2022 and 2023, the artist had to cancel some concert dates for medical reasons. “I have to resign to the fact that unfortunately my health does not allow me to continue to meet you for now. I have to listen to my limits,” Stromae wrote in a statement.
“Surrounded by my family, I need to take time to recover to resume the concerts when I can,” he added. “I hope to give you more positive news soon. I look forward to seeing you again.”
Since then, the singer’s appearances have been rare. At the end of 2024, Stromae unveiled a new song, “Ma meilleure ennemie,” in a duet with Pomme for the soundtrack of the final season of the series “Arcane” on Netflix. Last year, he revealed “Que ce soit clair,” another song with DJ Paul Kalkbrenner.
More recently, the artist returned to the stage alongside Orelsan on Thursday, March 12. Together, they performed “La pluie,” their duet, before celebrating Stromae’s 41st birthday with the crowd.
