Supported by its spectators and with a strong network of partnerships, the Palace cinema club reports a positive outcome, despite recurring material constraints.
The team at the Palace cinema club works year-round to promote accessible art in rural areas, fostering social connections and discussions on various topics. Volunteers reflect on the work done in partnership with local actors, including the Cinémaude association, which manages the Palace cinema and a network of small and medium-sized cinemas in the region.
Our cinema club benefits from the loyalty and unwavering support of the audience, with whom we share beautiful moments during screenings and special events such as the cinema festival, meetings with filmmakers, and collaborations with local organizations. The partnership with Cinémaude allows us to offer a diverse selection of films and screening times that better suit the local residents.
We see that our efforts are paying off, as reflected in the attendance statistics at Cinémaude. The cinema in the city center continues to thrive, attracting viewers from Narbonne. The recent screenings with 80 to 100 people demonstrate the vital role the cinema plays in the city center. The combination of public and school screenings makes the venue particularly attractive and effective in its mission of popular education.
The goal is to use cinema as a form of art that broadens our understanding of the world and others, fostering critical thinking to become more enlightened citizens. This mission of cultural emancipation is shared with Cinémaude and our committed audience.
However, recent challenges include technical issues at Cinémaude, leading to shortened screenings and cancellations due to roof leaks caused by heavy rainfall. The community-owned building requires repairs to address these leaks, as well as improvements to the heating and cooling system, as some viewers reported discomfort.
