Cinema, memory and encounters around three premieres in April in Port-Saint-Louis-du

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the French Association of Art and Test Cinema (AFCAE) and in partnership with Les Écrans du Sud, the Gérard-Philipe space in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône will offer several events in April, including three films in preview on April 12, 13, and 27.

It will start with “Maquisards,” the new film by Christian Philibert, which will be shown on Sunday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the presence of the director. The film tells the story of the most important Var maquis of the Second World War. The director follows a theatrical reenactment project involving a group of seven young people, from different local missions in Var, of the same age as those who joined the maquis in 1944. Over the months, the project turns into a human adventure where the history of theatrical creation and that of the maquis gradually merge.

Memorial work

With this realization at the crossroads of fiction and documentary, based on memorial work and historical transmission, Christian Philibert continues an work deeply rooted in the South of France and imbued with history. Movie lovers will be able to meet the director of the film “The 4 Seasons of Espigoule” and exchange with him in the cinema hall, then around the bar, after the screening.

The next day at 6:30 p.m., still as part of art and test cinema, the traditional “surprise film” will be shown, a preview that viewers will discover at the last moment and around which they can discuss after the screening.

On Monday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m., the film “Precious” will be shown in the presence of director Fany Guirard-Norel. By adapting Molière’s “Les Précieuses ridicules” with her students, Cécile thought she was rehabilitating the Precious women, the first feminists of the 17th century unjustly forgotten. She did not imagine that this project would lead her to emerge from her own insidious invisibility.

Three events are offered at the Gérard-Philipe space, avenue Gabriel-Péri: Sunday, April 12 at 7 p.m. with the screening of “Maquisards” in the presence of the director, Monday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. for a surprise film, and Monday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. with “Precious” in the presence of the director; tickets are at the usual price, with reservation recommended (www.scenesetcines.fr).
