By reading the terms of use of Copilot, it seems like Microsoft doesn’t really believe in its own AI. However, the company has an explanation.

Most Windows 11 users are fed up with the AI Copilot. Microsoft understands this and promises to remove it from various parts of the operating system. However, the example of Notepad makes us think it’s just a smokescreen.

Meanwhile, Copilot is back in the spotlight after some internet users delved into its terms of use – the ones we accept without ever reading. Here, it’s worth a look as some passages are perplexing.

Microsoft does not trust its own Copilot AI

Below, we have isolated the most important part. It says: “Copilot is solely for entertainment. It can make mistakes and not work as intended. Do not rely on Copilot for important advice. Using Copilot is at your own risk.” Reassuring.

Further down, Microsoft warns: “we cannot guarantee that Copilot’s responses will not violate the rights of others (such as copyrights, trademarks, or privacy rights) or damage their reputation.”

An official admission that the Redmond company does not believe in its product? A spokesperson responds that it’s not. “The mention of ‘for entertainment purposes’ is a relic from the time when Copilot was first launched as a search assistance service in Bing.”

Just an oversight in updating, even if it’s quite ironic to realize this at a time when Copilot is widely rejected. The representative specifies that the text will be modified soon to better reflect the current use of the AI.
