For over twenty years, the show Pekin Express has evolved, but this season marks a return to the basics. With GPS forbidden, no translation tools, new rules, and a new route, the contestants must rely more than ever on their instinct, resourcefulness, and adaptability.

The Yunnan, an immersion in the heart of authentic China

For this new leg, the pairs explore Yunnan, a province in southwest China, bordering Tibet and renowned for its cultural richness and spectacular landscapes.

A true human mosaic, the region is home to over 25 minority ethnic groups, including the Bai, Yi, Hani, and Naxi. Each has its own traditions, craftsmanship, and ancestral festivals, offering the contestants a unique immersion in an authentic and preserved China.

Between majestic mountains, terraced rice fields, shimmering lakes, and traditional villages, the setting promises to be both grandiose and demanding.

An immediate cultural shock for the contestants

But upon their arrival, the teams will have to face a true cultural shock. In China, everything changes: the language, the alphabet, the customs, and even the techniques to hitchhike.

Deprived of GPS and translation tools, the contestants will have to relearn how to communicate, orient themselves, and convince. A situation that could disadvantage some pairs and favor others, capable of adapting more quickly.

In this context, every decision, interaction, and mistake could have a direct impact on the race.

The grand return of the Quiz Express

This leg also marks the return of an emblematic game of the show: the Quiz Express.

Featuring general knowledge questions centered on China. A strategic challenge where each correct answer can offer a decisive advantage, while each mistake can significantly slow down a team.

In such a tight race, this game could well change the ranking and completely shuffle the cards.

A stage under high tension

With this change of country, the competition enters a new phase. More unpredictable than ever, this stage will test the candidates’ adaptability, composure, and teamwork.

Between cultural shock, strategic challenges, and the pressure of elimination, one thing is certain: in Pekin Express, the adventure is just beginning, and nothing is ever guaranteed.
