Residing at Maison Germaine-Tillion C.A.M.P. (Capsule artistique en mouvement permanent) is a cultural structure that facilitates the connection between art and the territory. For a year and a half, they have been hosting various artists in residence at Maison Germaine-Tillion in Plouhinec. “They come from very different disciplines,” explains Amélie-Anne Chapelin, founder of C.A.M.P. “It is to extend the memory of Germaine Tillion on important themes that were dear to her. This year, it is the art of crossing borders, hence the arrival of Muriel Cravatte.” The filmmaker has notably produced documentaries on migration.
A masterclass and a screening Muriel Cravatte is invited to Le Manège on Saturday, March 7, to conduct a masterclass on her way of writing and filming social subjects. “She will share her working method, focusing on the question of writing a film, as well as the tools she uses for the visual medium, especially with a documentary angle. The question of documentary cinema is really her focus,” emphasizes Amélie-Anne Chapelin.
Two hours to explain and discuss her artistic practices. “She will also talk about the relationship between the filmmaker and the film. There is something very heavy to deal with humanely, with the distance that one can have,” adds Nicolas Le Gac, programmer at Le Manège. The masterclass will be followed by the screening of the film “Devant – contrechamps de la rétention,” on which the filmmaker was director of photography. There will be a moment for discussion following the screening.
