Eyebrows: this shape adopted by celebrities rejuvenates the face, and you should try it!

In our rush to apply eyeliner or concealer, we almost forget the crucial element that can truly transform a face: the eyebrows. In 2026, their shape is subtly shifting away from the heavily drawn arches that have been ubiquitous in recent years, towards a softer line that intrigues as much as it captivates.

After the ultra-thin eyebrows of the 90s and the highly arched brows of the 2010s, the major trend now is straight eyebrows. Celebrities like Gracie Abrams, Ariana Grande, Margaret Qualley, Emma Stone, and Bella Hadid are showcasing this almost horizontal line, seen on red carpets and TikTok. The clear promise is a more youthful appearance in the blink of an eye.

The principle is simple: by reducing the arch, the eyebrow takes on a straighter shape, giving a more relaxed expression and softening the gaze. While a highly arched brow can intensify features, the straight brow softens the eye area, balances the face, and provides an immediate sense of freshness, as described by numerous beauty experts.

On round or short faces, this slightly horizontal line visually elongates the upper face and creates a lifting effect without surgery. This eyebrow shape can instantly lift the gaze and rejuvenate the face, which explains its popularity in 2026. On TikTok, the hashtag related to straight eyebrows has amassed over 200 million views, showing immense curiosity among users.

In Korea, K-beauty has been promoting straighter eyebrows, often slightly lightened, for several years to soften the face and give it a youthful appearance. This aesthetic has gradually made its way into Western trends, driven by a desire for more natural, less “perfect” eyebrows, yet subtly structured.

When Ariana Grande or Bella Hadid embrace this trend, it moves from the runways to dominate news feeds.

Makeup artists recommend first experimenting with the shape using makeup. Gently fill in the arch with a pencil, draw a straight lower line, and brush the hairs outward with a spoolie brush. A clear setting gel or slightly lighter brow gel can set this new direction without weighing it down, in line with the “no makeup makeup” ethos of K-beauty.

Once the shape is confirmed, experts advise a very gradual approach to shaping: removing a few hairs under the arch to soften it, slightly shortening the tail if needed, but avoiding drastic changes. The idea is to work with one’s natural base to achieve the coveted “soft straight brow” that lifts the gaze without hardening it, and follows the facial movements instead of rigidly setting them in place.
