Alysson Paradis is blossoming! The actress is starring in the show “Je sais pas” scheduled to air in prime time on France 2 this Monday, April 6. She shares the screen with Lola Dewaere, who plays the role of Camille, a mother whose six-year-old daughter has disappeared in the forest. On the occasion of the broadcast of this astonishing family drama in which she plays a key role, Alysson Paradis opened up to Gala.fr about her career, her journey, and her personal life.
Gala.fr: Firstly, tell us about your journey, the one that led you to the stage and film sets. Alysson Paradis: I think I’ve always had this desire. I really grew up in it, of course thanks to my family—my uncle, my sister, but also because my parents were big cinephiles, very eager to share emotions and discoveries through culture. I had a lot of books, the freedom to watch films, I often saw dance performances. I was lucky to go to the theater a lot when I was young. All of this made me want to pursue this profession.
Was this vocation always evident, even during your studies, or did you consider other paths before diving into acting? No, I didn’t always dive in headfirst because I belong to those people who don’t necessarily have great self-confidence. I really needed and wanted to learn, but with a lot of fear and a real problem of legitimacy. I didn’t dare to take the major school exams, I thought the Conservatoire wasn’t expecting me and that I wasn’t up to the level of the great classical texts. I even considered studying law, but I realized it wouldn’t be compatible with this profession. I studied a bit of art history, dance, then theater classes that weren’t necessarily suitable. I was lucky to work quite quickly and ultimately learn a lot on the job.
We also know that you played in a rock band when you were younger, you have a passion for music. Was that experience important to you? In reality, it was a group of high school girls that never left my friend Maëlle’s garage (laughs). I think we were part of a somewhat blessed generation, before social networks and the internet, where we turned our boredom and creative desire into doing these kinds of things. Honestly, we were very bad, but we did it, we were happy to be together.
