Three days of classical music with the Tautavel en musique festival and an open approach to all audiences.

This year, the Tautavel en musique festival celebrates its 25th anniversary. Launched by the internationally renowned violinist and cellist brothers Gautier and Renaud Capuçon, this event is now under the direction of Yannick de Lumley, president of the association Les amis de Tautavel en musique. “This 25th edition is an opening to contemporary music, with the aim of reaching a younger audience,” she comments, wanting to “break down the barrier that still exists when it comes to classical music.”

Reinvented for the third year by pianist Nathanaël Gouin and clarinetist Raphaël Sévère, described as “two virtuosos,” following Diego Tosi’s performance, Tautavel en musique takes place over three days, from Friday, April 24th to Sunday, April 26th. “Nathanaël and Raphaël invite their friends to the stage of the congress palace for the three evenings and two morning concerts,” explains Yannick de Lumley. The festival opens on Friday at 7 pm with a “Schubertiade” dedicated solely to Schubert. “Our two musicians will be on stage with cellist Christian-Pierre La Marca, guitarist Antoine Morinière, and the string quartet Elmire for almost two hours of concert. The works will be presented and it changes everything! This allows to give the listening keys to the piece, to understand it. This way we enter the human side of music,” appreciates Yannick de Lumley. Additionally, during this first day, at 3 pm, the children from the schools of Tautavel and Vingrau are invited to a concert.

The second evening, on Saturday at 6:30 pm, presents “Musica latina,” a musical journey from Italy to Brazil, passing through Argentina. The day starts in the morning at 11 am with the screening of images by Yann Arthus Bertrand on poems and texts dedicated to nature and set to music. “It’s a nice gift for the 25th anniversary of the festival.”

Finally, on Sunday at 11 am, a musical stroll through the village streets is proposed with a tasting of local wines. After an open stage for amateurs at 2 pm, the closing concert “Let’s rock” from 5 pm to 7 pm offers arrangements and improvisations with classical instruments and musicians playing pieces ranging from Piaf to Brel or Nougaro to Led Zeppelin, Jim Morrison, and The Beatles.

A varied and original proposal for this 25th anniversary. “Come and let yourself be carried away by the music and the musicians.”
