This new feature allows for natural language searches across the entire MyOutdoorTV platform, currently available on the web and with voice support for connected television coming soon. Going beyond traditional keyword search, the system interprets user intent to provide highly relevant results from the extensive MOTV library of content on hunting, fishing, and outdoor adventure.
Powered by a layer of semantic intelligence that combines vector search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), the technology analyzes titles, metadata, and transcriptions in the MOTV catalog to understand context, intent, and relationships between subjects. This results in a discovery experience similar to the intuitive search used by leading streaming platforms like Netflix, allowing viewers to move beyond simple keyword search and surface highly relevant content through natural language queries. For example, users can search using detailed prompts such as “Show me elk bow hunts in the Colorado Rockies” or “Find fly fishing techniques for fast water trout,” instantly finding the most relevant videos from the entire library.
“At ViewLift, we focus on using AI to create experiences for end customers by leveraging the latest technology used only by major companies like Netflix. This new experience allows users to search using concepts, keywords, typing, or voice,” said Manik Bambha, President of ViewLift. “Conversation-based discovery significantly reduces the time between intent and viewing. For MyOutdoorTV’s passionate audience, this means quicker access to the hunting, fishing, or outdoor content they are looking for, while increasing engagement on the platform.”
Search results appear in a dynamic video grid, allowing subscribers to simultaneously browse multiple experts, shows, and techniques. As users refine their search during a session, results are instantly updated to reflect the evolving conversation.
To further simplify discovery, the interface includes an interactive trailer feature, allowing users to watch clips directly from the search grid before launching full episodes. This reduces search friction and helps viewers quickly determine if a program aligns with their interests.
“With thousands of episodes covering all aspects of the outdoor lifestyle, it is essential to help subscribers quickly find relevant content,” said Sean Luxton, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MOTV. “ViewLift’s conversational AI-driven search offers hunters, fishers, and outdoor enthusiasts a smarter, more intuitive way to explore our programming and connect with the content they love.”
The conversational search experience also supports contextual follow-up queries, allowing viewers to refine results without starting over, for example, by filtering by expert, species, technique, or specific location.
By transitioning from keyword search to intention-based conversational navigation, the new feature is designed to reduce search fatigue, surface less popular content in the MOTV library, and increase total viewing time.
This launch represents a significant advancement in applying generative AI technologies and semantic search to OTT streaming platforms, positioning ViewLift and MyOutdoorTV at the forefront of AI-driven content discovery for specialized video services.
