The National Higher Maritime School (ENSM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Michel-Tritarelli as Director of Training and Research at ENSM from March 2, 2026. A graduate of DESMM (diploma of higher studies in merchant marine) from ENMM in Le Havre, Marie Michel-Tritarelli has built a career firmly rooted in the operational realities of the maritime sector before moving into management and training roles.
Her career began as a versatile officer at Bourbon in the offshore sector, on technically advanced ships. She then joined Exxon Mobil’s marine department in Angola as a local HSE manager in Soyo, operating under high standards and facing significant crew risks. Moving to Lassarat in 2012, she worked as a QHSE Export coordinator, overseeing QHSE processes in Congo and Nigeria, implementing collaborative tools, and aligning business practices with international certifications. By 2016, she was leading the marine department, managing the operation of an MPSV-type vessel. Her fourteen-year offshore oil sector experience in Africa involved demanding professional environments, fierce competition, strong corporate cultures, and a focus on continuous improvement.
In 2022, she transitioned to teaching as a versatile trainer at the maritime professional high school Anita Conti, using her operational and managerial experience to enhance maritime vocational training. Operating the navigation simulator and supporting pedagogical coordination, she helped expand the training offerings, including a captain 500 course to meet evolving training needs.
Starting March 2, 2026, she will assume her new role as Director of Training and Research at ENSM. Marie Michel-Tritarelli will oversee the pedagogical and scientific strategy of the training programs in close collaboration with the Director-General. She will ensure their quality and compliance with national and international standards, lead the teaching team, and drive research development to enhance the school’s training programs and reputation.
