An individual prize was awarded to Professor Tran Thi Viet Nga, director of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Advanced Technology at the University of Civil Engineering in Hanoi.

The collective prize was awarded to female researchers from the Department of Food Engineering (School of Chemistry and Life Sciences, Hanoi University of Science and Technology) for their collaborative work entitled “Application of biocatalysis to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.”

This project aims to study the application of biocatalysis (enzymes and microorganisms) to sustainably develop beneficial food products from Vietnamese raw materials, while utilizing by-products of the food industry to increase their value, moving towards a zero-waste production model and circular economy.

The individual prize was awarded to Professor Tran Thi Viet Nga, director of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Advanced Technologies and associate professor at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering (University of Civil Engineering in Hanoi). A recognized expert in water and wastewater treatment engineering in Vietnam, her research closely addresses the country’s specific needs in terms of environmental protection, energy security, and climate change adaptation.

As part of this scholarship, the 2026 Kovalevskaia award will be given to 3 female mathematics students at the high school for gifted students in natural sciences (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

The Vietnam Women’s Union also announced that a meeting between the Prime Minister and representatives of female leaders and executives of central agencies will be held on March 6 in Hanoi. Approximately 220 delegates will participate in this event, including: representatives from the Party and state leadership; over 60 female leaders and executives of central agencies; and 40 female scientists, either individually or representing groups, who have received the Kovalevskaia Prize from 1985 to the present day.
