It has become an excellent tradition, every spring, the Joyeux Cantañeres take part in the operation Mille chœurs pour un regard. More than 200 choirs throughout France organize concerts to benefit ophthalmology research. This operation is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year. Thanks to the funds raised during these concerts, research is progressing. New treatments are helping to slow the progression of diseases like AMD, and new prospects are emerging with gene therapy.

The concert in Pexiora began with the choir Génération Mouvement, from Castelnaudary, under the direction of Régine Vieu, who enthralled the audience with songs ranging from “Sacré Charlemagne” to “L’école est finie”. The Joyeux Cantañeres focused their program on French song classics by Georges Brassens, Jacques Prévert, Vladimir Cosma, and Michel Fugain. Of course, as always in their program, there was a humorous touch with the Occitan song “Le mildiou”. Finally, the choir from Piège, led by Nathalie Garcia, performed a very diverse program, ending with a very successful tribute to rain. The finale brought together all the singers under the direction of Daniel Dutrech. It was an excellent afternoon filled with songs and generosity. Thank you to everyone for participating in this concert.
