The Italian group announces today the appointment of Nicholas Reed as Vice President of Innovation and Research in Audiology, worldwide. This position was tailor-made for the researcher, known internationally for his work on the links between hearing loss and overall health.
With a Doctorate in Audiology from Towson University and Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University, Nicholas Reed has been working for years on the links between hearing loss and healthy aging, both clinically and in population studies. Before joining Amplifon, he was an associate professor at the New York University School of Medicine in the Ear, Nose & Throat department. Among his recent publications, several explore the gaps in audiology research regarding the connection between hearing loss, cognitive abilities, comorbidities, and he is notably the co-author of the Achieve trial analysis, which identified the effect of hearing aids in slowing cognitive decline.
Based in Minneapolis, the American headquarters of the Amplifon group, Nicholas Reed will be tasked with strengthening partnerships with research and ensuring that the company remains positioned at the intersection of clinical excellence and cutting-edge technologies. “His appointment represents a major investment by Amplifon in the future of hearing care,” said CEO Enrico Vita. “By integrating Dr. Reed’s expertise in epidemiology and clinical audiology, we will improve our protocols and make our services even more innovative, personalized, and effective, with the aim of improving the quality of life for millions of people worldwide.”
