The University of Lorraine is a partner in the European project AEGIS OA (Activate European Guidance and Incentives for Sustainable Open Access publishing). As part of the European Diamond Capacity Hub, this initiative is part of a broader European dynamic in favor of open science and aims to strengthen the open access scientific publishing model known as “diamond” (without costs for readers or authors).

Launched on March 20 in Brussels, the project is carried out by a consortium of 24 partners from 16 European countries, brought together for 2 years. It consists of research organizations, service providers, and national competency centers.

The project aims to establish in Europe a transparent, sustainable and high-quality ecosystem of open scientific publishing, based on the services of the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) and developing them further. For this, four specific objectives have been set:

  • Expand the diamond open access standards to include books
  • Implement training programs to enhance the skills of publishing professionals
  • Enhance the tools and services of the European Diamond Capacity Hub
  • Ensure coordination of national diamond centers to consolidate sustainable solutions across Europe.

Already involved in supporting diamond publishing, the University of Lorraine naturally fits into this dynamic. The publishing department of the Documentation Directorate is participating in the AEGIS project for the university.
