The 50 elected officials will elect the president of the Agglo de Sète this Tuesday, March 31st, in Frontignan. As a candidate for re-election, Loïc Linarès could have an advantage.

After the municipal elections come the Agglo! While the municipal elections officially end with the last installations of mayors and their councils this weekend in Balaruc-les-Bains, Balaruc-le-Vieux, and Poussan, another equally important election is being prepared for the presidency of Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée.

The election evening will finally take place on the day of the launch of Escale in Sète: Tuesday, March 31st. The new president and the fifteen vice-presidents of the community will be appointed. Not surprisingly, Loïc Linarès will be a candidate for re-election: “We will have to work on major issues that will project the living area towards 2060. This motivates me. For ten months, I have proven that I can move forward with projects and create a collective dynamic in bringing people together,” explains the resident of Frontignan.

The National Rally towards the maintenance of the “neither nor”

Will Hervé Marquès also be one? Or will he negotiate the first vice presidency? “It is important that the central city is a candidate. And it should not be someone other than a mayor,” said the successor of François Commeinhes, who was newly re-elected on Tuesday, in Midi Libre. The two men met and discussed the matter.

With this in mind, the voices of the four National Rally elected officials may be important. In the 2025 election, the Union des droits group abstained when Loïc Linarès took over the presidency from Jean-Guy Majourel. And this time? “We will not give our votes to a Macronist who excludes us from the Republican scope or to a socialist who associates with LFI!” says Sébastien Pacull.

In this context, Loïc Linarès should be able to count on 25 confirmed supporters, while Hervé Marquès should have about twenty supporters, including the thirteen from his municipal majority.

Vice presidencies significantly renewed

Whatever happens with the presidency, the assembly composition will be dramatically renewed on Tuesday, March 31st. More than half of the fifteen vice-presidents will disappear from the landscape, either because they were not re-elected, lost, were not in an eligible position, or were excluded.

As a result, Loïc Linarès, who has been actively meeting with new mayors in recent days to facilitate his re-election, seems to have a significant advantage today. But no one will forget the eventful evening of May 13, 2025, in Villeveyrac, with the unexpected election of the municipal councilor from Frontignan after three rounds of voting.
