The National Rally deputy will be appointed as mayor of Agde on Friday, March 27th, in the municipal council. He reflects on the election and outlines his priorities as the new elected official of the city of Agde.

“I want to reassure them. I will be the mayor (his investiture is scheduled for Friday, March 27th at 6:00 pm, in the municipal council) for all the people of Agde. Wherever RN elected officials have arrived, they have garnered consensus. That’s the reason for my candidacy: to bring the people of Agde together and turn a new leaf.”

“It had been three years since my partner and I wanted to settle here. Once it was decided that we would move here, I began to ask myself questions. I knew the city, of course, I had been the deputy for four years, but I especially noticed the divide created by Ettore’s case. As a parliamentarian, resident of the city, and with my family history in this city, it would have been wrong of me not to run. I started talking about it last May and made the decision in June.”

“When you’re the mayor of a city, president of a local council, the decisions you make have an almost immediate effect and can really make a difference.”

“In terms of the first measures, one of the biggest issues is the Urban Development Plan (PLU). It was sent to the Prefecture, but we need to retrieve it to make modifications. We need to act quickly to avoid leaving Agde in the turmoil that we highlighted during the campaign. I don’t want to make announcements right away, but we will work on creating an economic zone in Guiraudette, a residential area for first-time buyers, and revising the PLU on buildings. It’s urgent.”

“I am not here to make the local community, as a president possibly, a platform for politics. I also want to reassure them and acknowledge that Agde has somewhat dominated this local council, with almost a monopoly position. This mindset needs to change.”

“I believe there is no difference between the mayor of a city of 30,000 inhabitants and that of a village. We have the same legitimacy. I want us to change the way the local council operates so that everyone can defend their interests. The monopolistic situation in Agde can no longer continue as before.”

“I know there are pressures on mayors in the local council. I want to reassure them: today, the Department and the Region, due to their financial situations, are disengaging from the local level. I want the local council to partially replace these actors, through funds from the local council, for the benefit of the municipalities. My priority message is this: a local council that is not led by its main city (in this case, Agde), which contributes the most in terms of taxes, is a mandate for nothing. I don’t want us to waste time.”
