Just days before the second round, Midi Libre interviewed the three candidates still in the running for the mayor’s seat. Interview with Anthony Belin.

If you are elected, what will be your first action? I will be at work the next morning, at 6:30 am, and I will strive to gather all Lunellois to straighten up, repair and ensure that everyone lives well in our beautiful city.

What are the three priority measures of your program? We will relight the public lighting in 3 days. Second priority: adopting a budget that refocuses priorities on cleanliness so that all forgotten neighborhoods have the same level of public service because today 80% of the market is concentrated in the city center. Improving the living environment by starting the renovation of roads and sidewalks, as well as creating our network of small squares. Lastly, increasing security by launching a recruitment plan for municipal police officers and doubling the workforce during the term. The final priority is to defend the money of the people of Lunel by creating an economic activity zone at Mas de Baguai, stopping the delegation of public services for the municipal pool, and trying to reduce the debt of Damoclès to 4.70 million by putting a halt to the gendarmerie’s development project.

“A run by the elected officials in the neighborhoods”

What kind of mayor will you be in practice and do you think there are changes to be made in municipal operations? I will be a mayor who is present every Sunday morning in the city center so that Lunellois can share their issues with me. I will not shy away from my responsibilities. In terms of management, I want fewer meetings and active and present officials. Adjutant offices and majority councils will take place on Monday mornings at 7:30 am. Every morning, I will offer elected officials a run in forgotten neighborhoods, technical meetings that do not involve confidentiality will take place in the city center, over a cup of coffee. Lastly, I will reduce the number of service directors from 40 to 10 to find financial leeway.

Do you have a professional activity that you will maintain? No, I have informed my various clients that I will cease and liquidate my company on March 23 when I am elected.

Will you be a candidate for the presidency of Lunel Agglo? Yes, the mayor of Lunel must be the president of the agglomeration.

Why should Lunellois vote for you instead of your competitors? Because I am the only one offering a clear political agenda, without behind-the-scenes agreements and circus of alliances. Today, we are the only right-wing offer that wants to restore order.

Lastly, what is your favorite dish? Veal blanquette.

What is your favorite place in Lunel and why? Along the canal. Because that’s where my son took his first steps. And on Sundays, when we want to take a family walk, we gather there and enjoy walking. I find it to be a peaceful place, in a pleasant setting. It allows us to disconnect.

What was the last movie you saw in the cinema? The last movie I saw in the cinema was Avatar 3.
