In Aiguefonde, Mayor Vivien Lacroux, newly elected, succeeds Vincent Garel after three terms. The transition was smooth and the entire municipal team is now hard at work.

“Introduce yourself to your constituents?” “I am 50 years old, I live in Lacalm with my partner and my 14-year-old son. I work as a manager in public service.”

“What is your vision for ongoing projects?” There are many projects in progress to be completed. Firstly, the Saint-Alby junction. Companies confirm it will be completed by mid-June and work is progressing. Traffic will be restored towards Aussillon with alternating traffic lights. I am adding a bus shelter to protect everyone who waits in all weather conditions. An electric charging station with three connections will be installed along with a “farmer” food drive. Power supplies are ready, as are the parking lots. We will contact the local farms. The nursery will be restructured to comply with a legal requirement that staff can visually and constantly observe all children’s activities. For the expansion of the Saint-Pierre-de-Fronze cemetery, we are contacting the landowner. As for the communal mutual insurance, initial requests are being made to insurers. I will convene a public meeting to list the needs and launch the tender. In September, neighborhood meetings will start, one per month for four sectors, on rotation.

“The needs are known, what are the means?” We operate on a budget that will be voted on soon, developed under the previous mandate. Therefore, we are still restricted in our initiatives. However, I intend to maintain all subsidies to associations, highlighting the success of the last “Ronde Aiguefondaise” event and the meal for the elderly with more than 300 guests. Furthermore, communication with residents is essential for us. A special municipal journal will be created to introduce the team, the projects, etc. Directories will be compiled and distributed, listing local businesses and associations. The municipality’s website will be revamped, and we will communicate through Facebook, as well as Panneau Pocket. We will report in a future edition on medium-term achievements, such as roads, community development, and hiring.
