French Euro-MP to Appear in Court for Terrorism Apology
This legal procedure could have been like any other, but it is now turning highly political. After thirteen complaints filed against her for apologizing terrorism, all dismissed, French MEP Rima Hassan has to face the criminal court for the same accusation. “This event is part of a sequence that will extend to the presidential elections [sic]”, defended the elected official, alongside her lawyer Me Vincent Brengarth and Deputy Paul Vannier (France Unbowed), during a press conference in Paris on Friday, April 3, 2026.
The issue at hand is her summons to the criminal court for apologizing terrorism on July 7th. The tweet in question was posted on social network X, since deleted, referencing Kōzō Okamoto. He is the sole survivor of a Japanese trio who committed a massacre in 1972 at Lod-Tel Aviv airport (Israel), leaving 26 dead, including 17 Puerto Ricans, 8 Israelis, and 1 Canadian.
