Who said that value waits for the number of years? At only 12 years old, Suld Amarsanaa has just won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Paris.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, this competition is aimed at all pianists, without limits of age or nationality, and offers candidates the opportunity to compete in a demanding musical test, to assess their artistic level and surpass themselves in an international environment.

Faced with candidates from different countries, this young pianist from Renaison won over the jury by performing An earl de Kabalevsky.

“He is talented, he has a very good musical sense, understands quite quickly and has a very good ear.â€

To participate in this competition, he took the first step by sending a video which caught the attention of the jury during a first regional selection. He was won over by the young man’s performance in Paris in the Medium 1 category. It must be said that he gave himself the means to succeed: “I rehearsed the piece every day,” he confides.

It was her piano teacher from Villerest who suggested she take part in this competition, where she had already sent other students. “I suggested that he participate, and although some children are sometimes reluctant to participate in such an event, he was immediately excited,” explains Céline Bennour. “He is talented, he has a very good musical sense, understands quite quickly and has a very good ear,” she emphasizes. The music teacher at Renaison College, Bruno Berthelat, also praises his ear and his sense of rhythm which he perceives during rehearsals of the choir of which Suld is a member. And he announces that he will play the piece “A tale” for which he won an award in his class at the next lesson

“Want to do other competitions”

Suld only started playing the piano four years ago. “I found it a class to play the piano,” explains Suld, who is also in 6th grade at Renaison College. He works with his teacher on both classical pieces, but also more contemporary pieces likeBohemian Rhapsody by Queen, but also a Mongolian piece, since Suld is of Mongolian nationality and arrived in France eight years ago. After living in Roanne, he moved to Renaison with his parents and two little brothers.

This piano competition was his first, “but it makes you want to do others,” confides Suld, who this prize will encourage to continue working, without neglecting his other activities. “I also play guitar, dance, tennis and Thai boxing,” he lists. But it’s about leisure and his ambitions lie elsewhere for his adult life: “I’m going to become a doctor,” he announces. Given his determination, we want to believe him.
