A fire response is currently underway in Roosevelt County after an ethanol plant caught fire just outside of Portales. The Portales/Roosevelt County Office of Emergency Management has reported that police and fire crews are at the scene and are currently working on containment efforts as of Wednesday evening, March 25th.
Officials have expressed concern that the fire may spread to larger areas of the facility, and firefighters are actively working to protect the surrounding areas. Residents are advised to avoid the area near South Industrial Drive and Highway 70.
