Atletico: Antoine Griezmann to join Orlando in MLS

According to Marca, Antoine Griezmann (age 35) will indeed leave Europe and Atletico Madrid soon to move to the United States. The French forward will use the international break to finalize his transfer to MLS club Orlando City. After ten years with the Colchoneros, with whom he played, Griezmann will continue his career on the other side of the Atlantic. “The desire to play is still there, but the body is different,” Dimitri Payet explains why he is retiring

Speaking to Ligue 1+, former Marseille player Dimitri Payet announced on Sunday that he is retiring, approaching 39 years of age. Despite dazzling performances, he did not win any major trophies.

“As I approach my 39th birthday, I officially announce that I am retiring as a professional footballer. My dream was to become a professional, and I succeeded at the highest level for twenty years. I had the opportunity to play for the national team (38 caps). It’s the end of a wonderful journey.”

“The desire to play is still there, but at 39, the body is different. The demands of football are very complex. I didn’t want to commit to a project where I couldn’t give 100% of myself. I prefer to hang up my boots and retire. Emotionally, it was impossible for me to play against OM,” added the Reunionese, who will not have the chance to win a title in his career.
