Alain Carignon expects to be beaten in Grenoble
“The initial trends are not good. It’s hard to see how we can make a comeback,” Alain Carignon (LR) told his supporters around 9:20 p.m. The former mayor is reportedly trailing Laurence Ruffin (left-wing union) by 10 points, who has arrived with a smile at her campaign headquarters. Grenoble is the last city in the department awaiting the results.
Amandine Demore elected in Échirolles
Échirolles Mayor Amandine Demore (PCF) is elected for her first campaign as lead candidate; she succeeded the historic mayor Renzo Sulli, who resigned in October 2023. The Communist candidate wins with 59.62% of the votes, ahead of RN candidate Enzo Billon (27.30%). Antar Labiod (LFI) receives 13.08%. Amandine Demore becomes the first woman mayor elected in her own name in the 3rd most populous city in Isère.
Mayor Philippe Cardin (left-wing divers) defeated in Meylan
The 9th city in the department switches: Joëlle Hours (center divers) is elected with 57.20% of the votes. Incumbent Mayor Philippe Cardin (left-wing divers) receives 42.80%: he does not manage to replicate his 2020 success, when he had brought Meylan back to the left for the first time since 2001. On the other hand, the withdrawal of Sandrine Chaix (right-wing divers) third in the first round, seems to have tilted the election in favor of Joëlle Hours.
Sassenage Mayor Michel Vendra elected
In office since April 2023, Michel Vendra is widely elected for the first time in his own name in Sassenage, the 13th commune in the department. He gathers 62.68% of the votes against 37.27% for his opponent Michel Barrionuevo.

She clearly outperforms the outgoing first deputy Anne Gérin (28.98%) and Fabienne Sentis, elected from the outgoing opposition, at 22.94%.
Imen de Smedt first woman mayor of Saint-Marcellin
Another feminization of the mayor’s post, in Saint-Marcellin: Imen de Smedt, the center divers candidate representing the outgoing majority (the mayor was not running), is elected with 52.24% of the votes.
