King Charles III has warmly received members of a Nigerian delegation ahead of the upcoming visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the United Kingdom, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
The reception took place at St James’s Palace during a special diaspora event attended by key Nigerian officials and members of the British-Nigerian community.
Among those present were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yussuff Tuggar, and the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, alongside prominent members of the Nigerian diaspora in Britain.
The British monarch expressed his delight at engaging with Nigerians living abroad, noting their significant contributions to both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
The gathering formed part of activities ahead of President Tinubu’s visit, which is expected to further deepen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
Officials said such high-level diaspora engagements are aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and reinforcing cultural connections between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
They also serve as a platform to highlight the achievements of Nigerians abroad while encouraging investment, partnerships, and skills transfer that can support national development.
Nigeria’s diaspora community, estimated at more than 20 million people globally, continues to play a crucial role in the country’s economic growth through remittances, professional expertise, and international partnerships.
