CLEVELAND (AP) — Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey received positive news from medical tests, as the results showed that he does not have any fractures in his sprained right pinky. The announcement was made by coach Nick Nurse on Monday prior to the team’s upcoming game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The injury occurred when Maxey collided with teammate Adem Bona during the 76ers’ loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. Despite the collision, Maxey continued to play before heading to the locker room, visibly favoring his injured hand.

Following X-rays and an MRI, it was confirmed that there were no broken bones in Maxey’s hand. As a result, the All-Star starter will be sidelined at least until Tuesday’s game against Memphis.

“No breaks,” stated Nurse. “Now, he needs to consult with hand specialists to determine the next steps.”

Maxey had previously sprained the same pinky last season, which raised some concerns among the coaching staff. Despite this setback, Maxey has been performing exceptionally well this season, averaging career highs in multiple categories.

“He appears to be in good spirits and is eager to return, but we need to wait for further evaluations before making any decisions,” said Nurse.
