In a spectacular night for former Gonzaga Bulldogs in the NBA, rookie point guard Ryan Nembhard set a new record with 23 assists for the Dallas Mavericks in a victory over Chicago.
Nembhard fell just short of a triple-double with 15 points and nine rebounds in his outstanding performance.
The 23 assists broke the Mavericks’ single-game rookie record previously held by his coach Jason Kidd at 17. Nembhard was only two assists away from Kidd’s Dallas single-game record.
Meanwhile, Julian Strawther of the Denver Nuggets scored a career-high 25 points to secure the third seed in the west with a win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Rui Hachimura of the Los Angeles Lakers achieved a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in a victory against the Utah Jazz, securing the fourth seed in the west.
Corey Kispert of the Atlanta Hawks scored 21 points and made five threes in a loss to the Miami Heat.
Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic hit a career-high seven threes and scored 23 points in a defeat to the Boston Celtics.
Strawther, Hachimura, and Kispert are set to play in the NBA Playoffs starting on Saturday, while Suggs and the Magic will face the Philadelphia 76ers in a play-in game on Wednesday evening.
