Aeromexico opens a direct flight from Monterrey to Paris Charles de Gaulle from April 13, 2026. Three weekly rotations on Boeing 787 Dreamliner, over 1,500 weekly seats and unprecedented access to the north of Mexico without passing through Mexico City. For French travelers, this connection changes the game: Nuevo León, the third economy of the country, becomes accessible in about 11 hours of flight.

The Monterrey (MTY) – Paris CDG route will be operated non-stop from April 13 to October 22, 2026, with three flights per week. The selected aircraft is the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Aeromexico’s flagship long-haul aircraft known for its pressurized cabins at lower altitude and electrochromic windows. The flight duration is estimated at around 11 hours, comparable to the 12-hour Paris-Mexico City route.

“This direct Monterrey-Paris connection strengthens the role of Monterrey Airport as the main air hub in northern Mexico and positions Nuevo León as a strategic gateway for tourism, business, and investment between Europe and Mexico,” said Ricardo Dueñas, general director of OMA Aeropuertos, according to Vinci Airports’ press release.

Paris is already the third European market from Monterrey, with 13,200 passengers in 2024 according to Mexico Business News. This new connection is Aeromexico’s second direct link to Europe from Monterrey, after Madrid. Combined with the launch of Mexico City-Barcelona on March 26, 2026, it increases Aeromexico’s capacity to Europe by +11% this summer.

Aeromexico already operates about 7 direct flights per week between Paris CDG and Mexico City. This new route is not internal competition, but a geographical complementarity. Mexico City remains the gateway to the center and south (Oaxaca, Chiapas, Yucatán). Monterrey, on the other hand, opens the north: Sierra Madre, desert, and norteña culture.

Specifically, this direct flight eliminates the 3 to 5-hour layover in Mexico City that travelers had to endure to reach the northern part of the country. For French travelers accustomed to direct flights from France, this is a significant time saver.

Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León, acknowledges this: “Air connectivity plays a key role in the development of tourism, facilitating exchanges between destinations and strengthening the global presence of Nuevo León.”

The north of Mexico is often overlooked by French guides, yet the region around Monterrey boasts spectacular sites. Monterrey itself offers a surprising mix: Barrio Antiguo (colonial neighborhood), MARCO (renowned contemporary art museum), Parque Fundidora (converted industrial site into an urban park), and 2.5 km Paseo Santa Lucía riverwalk.

Just 20 minutes from the city, the Huasteca Canyon impresses with its 300-meter cliffs, via ferrata, and hiking trails. Located in the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), it is one of the most spectacular natural sites in northern Mexico.

Further away, about a 4-hour drive, Real de Catorce is worth a visit. This ghost mining town, perched in the San Luis Potosí desert, is only accessible by a 2.3 km tunnel through the mountain.

For more ambitious trips, the Copper Canyon (Barrancas del Cobre), larger and deeper than the Grand Canyon, can be reached by the El Chepe train from Chihuahua. Regarding gastronomy, cabrito (roasted kid goat) is Monterrey’s iconic specialty. The best time to visit coincides with the flight schedule: April-May and September-October, before the summer heat.

Prices have not been officially announced for this route yet. For comparison, Aeromexico’s Paris-Mexico City flights start around 450-550 euros round trip on promotion. The initial prices on aeromexico.com for the Monterrey-Paris route indicate fares starting from about 17,000 Mexican pesos (approximately 850 euros) round trip in economy class.

In summary, here’s what you need to know: – Period: from April 13 to October 22, 2026 (seasonal route) – Frequency: 3 flights per week on Boeing 787 Dreamliner – Alliance: Aeromexico is a SkyTeam member, like Air France – possible Flying Blue miles accumulation and potential SkyTeam code-sharing – Visa: Mexico is visa-free for French nationals (up to 180 days stay) – Reservations: open on aeromexico.com – Airport: Monterrey International (MTY), operated by OMA Aeropuertos (Vinci Airports group), serving over 60 destinations

This new connection opens up a whole region of Mexico to French travelers. The north of the country, with its canyons, ghost villages, and norteña culture, offers a virgin discovery area for French-speaking audiences. Mexico is among the rising destinations of 2026.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner ensures long-haul comfort on this 11-hour route – a point that sets this connection apart from some transatlantic routes operated by narrow-body aircraft. With a 10 to 15-day itinerary combining Monterrey, Sierra Madre, and the desert, travelers have a complete route, away from the crowds of the Yucatán.

Stay tuned for launch promotional fares and the potential confirmation of an Air France code-share on this route.
