The countdown to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival is on! Artistic director Thierry Frémaux and president Iris Knobloch will reveal the official selection of films, including the Un Certain Regard sidebar, and other program details during a press conference in Paris. Last week, Cannes announced that the festival will open with Pierre Salvadori’s film “La Vénus électrique” and John Travolta’s directorial debut “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” will have its world premiere. Salvadori’s film is described as a “delightfully burlesque romantic comedy” set in the Roaring 20s and features Pio Marmaï, Anaïs Demoustier, and Gilles Lellouche. South Korean director Park Chan-wook will serve as the jury president for Cannes 2026, and Peter Jackson will receive an honorary Palme d’Or for his work. Jafar Panahi’s “It Was Just an Accident” won last year’s Palme d’Or. The 79th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 12-23. Watch the live unveiling of the 2026 lineup below.
