A jar of Nutella was recently spotted in orbit during NASA’s Artemis II mission, creating a buzz on social media for its smooth product placement. The chocolate-hazelnut spread floated into view during a livestream, rotating to show its label in zero gravity.

Nutella embraced the attention by sharing the clip on their official account, joking about being the “spread that traveled the furthest in history.” Social media users joined in the fun, with comments expressing disbelief and admiration for the cosmic Nutella sighting.

The clip went viral just before the Artemis II crew set a distance record and experienced a temporary loss of communication with Earth while passing behind the Moon. Despite the isolation, the mission continued with historic observations, including capturing a solar eclipse near the Moon.

The crew, including Commander Reid Wiseman and pilot Victor Glover, is expected to return to Earth after a multi-day journey. They were equipped with iPhones for documenting the mission, using them as cameras to capture unique perspectives of their space journey.

Although there is no internet or Bluetooth in space, the phones have proven to be reliable tools for recording important moments of the Artemis II mission. The astronauts are set to make a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean as they conclude their historic journey.
